A periodical is a type of publication that is published in a series at regular intervals or periodically. Examples include journals, newspapers, magazines, and newsletters. The articles within them are called periodical articles. Periodicals may be aimed at general public such as magazines which contain news, personal narratives, and opinion. A scholarly periodical such as a journal or scholarly peer reviewed journal is aimed at specialists and researchers which includes articles written by experts in the subject area.
