No, you are not permitted to share or upload articles, e-books or any other material downloaded from one of Notre Dame’s Library databases, to a third party application, including websites (eg CourseHero) or Gen-AI platforms (eg ChatGPT).
Materials available for students to use via Library subscriptions are licenced and copyrighted so sharing them with a Gen-AI platform to generate, synthesise or summarise content, without the express permission of the copyright owner/licensor would be in breach of our licence agreement.
It is okay to upload web links to content discovered and accessed via the World Wide Web, material that is publicly available for anyone to access, however you should always apply appropriate evaluation of summaries generated by Gen-AI, and ensure you have reviewed the source yourself to check for any inaccuracies or bias in the outputted summary.
