The AMA Manual advises against including unpublished works in end references; however, they should be acknowledged in the text. For instance:

These findings have recently been corroborated…. ( S. Dougall, unpublished report, 2023).

It's important to note that this advice primarily applies to professional papers and not student papers. For students, the following  citation approach is recommended.
