Thorium - New Offline Reader for EBSCO eBooks - From 19 May 2026
From 19 May 2026, EBSCO is introducing a new application for offline eBook reading called Thorium Reader.
Thorium Reader provides a more accessible and user‑friendly way to read downloaded EBSCO eBooks on your device. Searching for and accessing eBooks remains the same, and online reading in a web browser or on mobile devices is not affected by this change.
If you download EBSCO eBooks for offline use, you will need to:
- Log into or create your EBSCO personal account
- Install Thorium Reader
- Use the one-time EBSCO generated passphrase to open your ebook in Thorium Reader.
