Overnight loans apply to Closed Reserve items, which are high demand materials that have loan restrictions placed on them. During the day, Closed Reserve items may only be loaned for 2 hours at a time. However, they can be loaned overnight when the library closes.

The rules for overnight loans are as follows:

  • You can check out the item 2 hours before closing time
  • You must return the item within the first hour of the library opening.

For example: If the library closes at 5pm and opens at 9am the next day, you may borrow these items overnight from 3pm onwards and return it before 10am.

A library card or ID is required to borrow Closed Reserve items, which must be returned to the Information Desk of the respective library (and not in the return chute). Closed Reserve items which are returned late will incur fines of $2 per hour, per item.
