Many online resources require Java and "cookies" to be enabled in your web browser. If they have not been enabled the database or catalogue may not work at all, or may not work correctly.

To enable Java

Firefox

  1. Start Mozilla Firefox browser or restart it if it is already running.
  2. Select Tools > Options .
  3. Dialog box: Options
  4. Click Web Features > Select Enable Java

Netscape Navigator

  1. Click Edit > select Preferences on the menu bar.
  2. Click on the word Advanced .
  3. Click to check mark Enable Java on the right hand side of the screen.
  4. Click OK .

Safari

  1. Open Safari
  2. Click on the Safari menu
  3. Select Preferences
  4. Choose > Security menu
  5. Check > Enable Java box
  6. Click OK

To enable Cookies

Firefox

  1. Go to the Tools menu.
  2. Select Options > Select Privacy icon in the left panel >Check the box corresponding to Allow sites to set cookies.
  3. Click OK to save changes.

Internet Explorer 5.x

  1. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu > Security tab > Custom Level button. Scroll down to the Cookies section.
  2. To enable >set Allow cookies that are stored on your computer > Enable . Set Allow per-session cookies > Enable.
  3. Click OK.

Internet Explorer 6.0+

  1. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  2. Click on the Privacy tab.
  3. Click the Default button (or manually slide the bar down to Medium ) under Settings.
  4. Click OK.

Netscape

  1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  2. Click on the arrow next to Privacy & Security in the scrolling window to expand >Under Privacy & Security > Cookies > Enable all cookies
  3. Click OK

Safari

  1. Click > Safari -menu in Safari
  2. Click > Preferences... item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Click > Security icon near the top of the window.
  4. Under Accept Cookies the Always or Only from sites you navigate to must be selected.
  5. Click Ok
