When I try to download an eBook from the Library to the Bluefire app, I get an error message

The error message is: "A network error occurred. Double-check that your device has networking enabled and try again."

If you get that particular error message in the Bluefire app, exit out of the eBook completely and try opening it and downloading it to the Bluefire app again. It should work the second time.
