Q

When I import a citation from a database into EndNote, some of the journal titles are in capitals and I can't change them.

I have tried to re-type the journal title to change the case, but it doesn't stick!

Answer

Correcting journal titles ‘stuck’ in capital letters in EndNote

When importing references from databases to EndNote X7/X8, the citation will sometimes show with the journal title capitalised. Often these capitals “stick”, and even if the title is edited to change case, it will continue to present in both the EndNote preview pane and your document with capital letters.

To change this permanently:

  1. Go to Tools > Open Term Lists > Journal Terms List
  2. Select the journal title that needs to be changed and click the Edit Term button on the right.
  3. Retype the journal title in the correct capitalisation and click OK. Close the window.
