I am writing about the film Gallipoli by Peter Weir in an essay APA format. Do I need to put the title of the film in italics?

Answer

APA is an Author-Date referencing system, and so the film should be referenced with the author and date of publication.

The example below is from the University's APA Referencing Guide:

In-text
Coppola, Kurtz, and Lucas (1973) OR (Coppola, Kurtz, & Lucas, 1973)

Reference List
Coppola, F. F. (Producer), & Kurtz, G. (Producer), & Lucas, G. (Director). (1973). American graffiti [Motion picture]. USA: Universal Studios.

When mentioning the title of the film in the body of the text, it should also be italicised (APA Publication Manual Section 4.21).
