The following example applies to the APA style used by the School of Education.

When including a direct quotation in text, be sure to include the author and date of publication. For example:

"...." (Red Cross, 2014, para 13)

"....", from the Red Cross website (2014, para 4)

The reference list at the end of the essay should include author, date, title and URL. For example:

Red Cross. (2014). Ways of working. Retrieved from

Please refer to the University Library's Referencing Guide for more examples, including:

  • Author and/or date unknown
  • Author uses a screen name
  • Acronym for organisations.

Please also refer to the  Referencing Guide for details on how to reference web resources in the other two official styles used in the University (Chicago Footnotes and AGLC3), if required by your School.
